Brief History

His Majesty, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Third King founded the first technical institute in the country in Kharbandi, Phuentsholing on 1st May 1965 with Father David Giraldo from Italy as the 1st Principal. The Institute was named as Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS) which was later renamed as Royal Technical Institute (RTI).

In 2003, Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) established College of Science and Technology (CST) in RTI and subsequently TTIs were opened in various districts for balanced economic development and to enhance access to technical and vocational education training (TVET). Technical Training Institute, Rangjung is one of them.

It was established in 2003. It is the only TTI in eastern Bhutan.
