SALANG TENDREL
On 30th September 2025, coinciding with the 8th day of the 8th month of the Wood Female Snake Year in the Bhutanese calendar, a momentous Salang Tendrel (groundbreaking ceremony) was held to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the institute’s journey. The auspicious occasion was graced by Dasho Dzongdag of Trashigang Dzongkhag and presided over by the Venerable Lam Neten of Trashigang Dratshang, whose presence bestowed blessings of prosperity and harmony upon the project.
The ceremony witnessed an inspiring gathering of distinguished guests, including sector heads from the Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration, representatives from Rangjung Dratshang, regional heads, principals of Rangjung schools, private partners, and members of the business community. Their collective presence reflected the deep sense of unity and shared commitment to advancing education and skills development in the region.
At the heart of this landmark project lies the construction of a state-of-the-art integrated multi-complex building, envisioned to transform the campus into a hub of modern learning. The facility will bring together essential amenities under one roof—spacious dining hall, modern kitchen, store, cafeteria, well-equipped classrooms, and advanced IT laboratories—creating an environment where trainees can learn, collaborate, and grow. Complementing this, the existing dining hall will be remodeled into a vibrant auditorium, further enriching the institute’s academic and cultural life.
This transformative project is made possible through the generous support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Pathways for Emerging Skills and Jobs Project (PESJP). More than just an infrastructure development, the initiative symbolizes Bhutan’s enduring vision to strengthen technical and vocational education, empowering young people with the skills to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world.
The Salang Tendrel not only laid the foundation of a building, but also ignited a renewed spirit of hope, progress, and opportunity—marking a milestone that will be remembered as a turning point in shaping the future of education and skills in the country.
