Campus Life

A Day in the Life at Rangjung TTI

Tucked away in the quiet eastern hills of Bhutan, the little town of Rangjung is home to a very special place — the Technical Training Institute (TTI). Every morning, as the sun rises over the lush hills of Trashigang, the campus slowly comes to life.

Students, dressed in their training uniforms, begin their day early. The cool mountain breeze flows through the simple but neat campus buildings. Some head to the dining hall for breakfast, while others make their way to the workshops, their toolboxes in hand, ready for another day of hands-on learning.

At TTI Rangjung, learning is not just theory — it’s doing. Whether it’s fixing engines in the Automobile workshop, wiring up circuits in the Domestic Wiring class, or shaping wood into beautiful furniture, students spend most of their time building real skills. The workshops are buzzing with activity, guided by instructors who are more like mentors than teachers.

But life at TTI Rangjung isn’t all about training. After classes, students often gather around the dormitories, chatting, playing sports, or helping each other with projects. The accommodation is provided, and a monthly stipend of Nu. 3,500 helps cover basic expenses — a big help for many students who’ve come from far-off villages.

Evenings are quiet and peaceful. Some students might be revising for a test, others preparing for their other side academic course to equip them with basic understanding of calculation and language.

Festivals and special events light up the campus from time to time. These are moments of joy, with music, dance, and food, reminding everyone of the strong Bhutanese culture they are proud to be part of. Community service is also part of life here — students often go out to help nearby villagers, using their new skills for the good of others.

The institute is not big, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in heart. The classrooms are simple, the tools a bit worn, but the spirit of learning is strong. Surrounded by green hills and guided by the values of hard work and humility, TTI Rangjung is more than a training school — it’s a place where dreams begin.

And as the sun sets, casting golden light over the rooftops, students walk back to their dorms with tired hands, full minds, and hopeful hearts — ready for another day.
